Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education may have courted some controversy with his grilling over the lack of support for activities related to debating in his recent article published in Utusan Malaysian (Malay language newspaper) – you can read it here. However, if you’re a debater, you would understand that controversy can only mean nothing but good.

The article is titled (translated), Debating Enriches Education and Democracy. I won’t be translating the rest of the article, so why not start learning the Malay language.

FYI. Dato’ Saifuddin is also the Patron of the World Universities Peace Invitational Debate (WUPID).
